Community-based Tourism offers travel experiences in which nature, culture, the environment, and traditional ways of life become the essential core of the trip, thus offering new and surprising perspectives for travelers from around the world. In this way, it seeks to develop initiatives and enterprises in rural communities with the purpose of showcasing the natural and cultural diversity of our region and to stimulate economic development in those areas. Community-based Tourism takes place in protected natural areas, indigenous and small-farm communities, and in spaces in which travelers encounter authentic experiences and quality products, thus promote development, inclusion, and social participation. Andean Lodges is a pioneering enterprise in the development of Community-based Tourism, and in supporting sustainable tourism along the Route to Ausangate by working in association with the communities of Chillca and Osefina, which take part in the firm’s operations.
