Anantapata is situated at an altitude of 4,750 m. at the top of the Alcatauri Gorge, a striking area of wetlands, traditionally utilized as a herding area for alpacas, surrounded by the snowcapped peaks of Mts. Tacusiri and Ausangate. This unique lodge’s construction was financed by the community of Chillca. That’s why Anantapata is a most important accomplishment for Andean Lodges, as demonstration of the motivation and efforts of the communities to share their culture and land, as well as proof of successful sustainable tourism in this high Andean region.
